As the music industry has expanded and grown exponentially over the years, so have its genres. One of the music genres that has reached new heights in recent times is rap. With rock and pop ruling the industry for many years, rap has taken over the world by storm and has been reigning for the past two decades. Though many artists have ventured into rap, carving a niche for themselves, Mr Streetz is a new addition who has been doing rounds with his soulful lyrics and upbeat music.
Born in East London, England, Mr Streetz has always been passionate about music. When he was 14 years old, he started writing rap lyrics but didn’t have an outlet to produce any song, so it all piled up in his ‘book of rhymes’. Due to the lack of resources and seeing his parents work three jobs to make ends meet, he quit school early on in order to start earning. But that did not stop him from pursuing his passion for music. As a matter of fact, he started getting inspired by the famous rappers of his time.
On how his journey began, Mr Streetz shared, “I originally started listening to Eminem and 2Pac, and they gave me the creative direction for my lyrics at a very young age. When I got back to music during the pandemic, I started listening to Dave from London.” He further went on to say, “Dave is one the best British rappers at the moment, and his style and music have influenced me to a great extent in my music as well. I would even like to say that Dave gave me the confidence to pursue my music..”
Mr Streetz gets very excited before starting a new project. He gets butterflies and dives into his own world from where nothing and no one can distract him. He only comes out of the phase once the project is finished and he is satisfied with the outcome. He highlights that before he takes on a new beat, he spends hours ensuring that the music portrays his emotions and that all the drops, drums, and beats are in the right place. In only a few cases, he gets the inspiration for the lyrics from the beats, but mostly he has an idea of how to go about it. He writes his heart out and wraps the rhythms around his words to create magic.
With the advent of digital space, we all understand that it is not easy to get your music heard as the competition is cut-throat. That is why a lot of artists, despite creating good music, drown in the crowd. However, if you put your emotions in your song, listeners are bound to get connected with it. When you make music from your heart, it touches millions of hearts around the world.
Even in this diverse and competitive industry, Mr Streetz has 1 million views on his YouTube channel with over 300K views on one of his songs as well. His hit number, ‘Fish in the Sea’ has over 150,000 listens on Spotify, while his debut album ‘Flowtime’ has amassed over 120,000 streams on the musical platform. . In a short span of time, he has come a long way due to his impeccable work ethic, persistence, and hard work to achieve his goals.
What sets Mr Streetz apart from his competitors is his diverse tunes that are for everyone. “You are having a bad day, I have a song for it. You are feeling happy about something, I have a song you can relate to. You are in love, out of love, disgruntled at society, there is something for everyone out there in my music,” said Mr Streetz.
His upcoming new album, ‘Evolution EP’, means a lot to him as the music is very fresh and relatable. And the best part is that listeners can take something from one song or the other. As for his future plans, Mr Streetz is planning to release two more albums in the near future and have a few shows lined up for the next year, followed by his own concert.
Mr Streetz’s musical journey was not an easy one, yet he did not lose faith and kept his passion for music growing, which in turn, helped him become one of the most sought-after rap artists in the UK, with his fans expanding across the globe.
