Montressa Cunningham, known to the music world as Mont’e Millions, is one of the biggest risers within the music industry as of late. The son of soul/R&B icon Betty Wright, Mont’e seeks to make a name for himself and keep the deep roots of musical success going within his family. Mont’e is already well on his way there, already having multiple big hits in his career, with the most famous being his piping hot single “Sally”. The song has garnered almost a million views on the music platform Spotify, and these numbers are climbing daily.
Despite all his success as of late, Mont’e contributes his accomplishments to his family of prominent artists and musicians that helped guide him along the way and assisted in sparking his music stardom. Mont’e happens to be the nephew of Yvonne Jackson, who was a very well-known blues artist. He is also the grandson of Elijah Cunningham who was famous for his involvement in the Elite Gospel Quartet in the ’60s and 70’s. There is no lack of musical talent in Mont’e’s family. The elite music talent that surrounded him was one of the reasons that Mont’e started singing music at the age of 7 years old and started writing music at the early age of 12. At the age of 13, he began performing professionally in front of crowds, sometimes along with his mother Betty. Mont’e had the chance to even get to perform with music legends such as Bo Diddley, BB King, and other well-known names.
Despite his success in the music industry, Mont’e has started to make a name for himself outside of the music industry. Mont’e became the first African American to release his own brand of horse treats called “Sally Horse Treats”, ironically named after his hit single. He is also the author of six books, looking to release a 7th book very soon. He also is planning on releasing his own brand of vitamin water called “Sally Water” this summer. Mont’e is truly on his way to becoming an icon both on and off the stage. He is truly unique and a standout within the music industry.
