Santa Cruz rap artist SpenDoe and Sacramento Mobbmuzik producer C-DUBB are really moving their music around, these days. The work ethic of these two independent artists, can be seen throughout the music scene. Their internet presence, is felt. I say this, because of their visibility. A musician or influencer doesn’t have to have a million followers, or hundreds of likes to a post. You can Google each of their names, and you will see what I am talking about.
Overall, the project is amazing. This is a great album. We have two west coast artists from two different regions, and two different walks of life. Both SpenDoe and C-DUBB were influenced by “mob music” beginning in the San Francisco Bay Area during the 90’s. You can hear it in the music, and it’s not a bad thing.
Both artists have embraced the “mob music” sound, and put their own twist on it. The album starts off with “Block Monsters” which is crazy way to begin an album, but it’s definitely got that long interlude vibe too it. I really enjoyed the movie clips during the chorus parts.
SpenDoe has impressive rap skills. His flow is versatile, and he delivers bars in a way that is natural for him. Everything comes together. It’s good to hear SpenDoe go in, as a lyricist on “Mind of a Hustla” alongside C-DUBB, and feature artist T-Nutty.
Feature artist Day Day comes in on “Night Life” which is a nice all-around slap, containing great energy from all three artists.
C-DUBB is known for his blatant chopper flow and speed-rapping, also compliments things on this release, with his own style for the albums “west coast” feel. I really enjoyed listening to this album, and felt that SpenDoe and C-DUBB delivered something really nice here. I truly hope these guys get the recognition they deserve, and hip hop fans give “Professional Mobbin: The Cali Way” a listen. The album is available on CD through @SpenDoeMusic on Instagram.
