After serving a 9-year sentence, Big Hit was released from prison and wasted no time in relaunching his rap career. Since then, he’s teamed up with his son, 3X Grammy-winning producer Hit-Boy, for a string of defiant collaborations that have shaken up the music industry.

This Saturday (Dec. 16), the Pasadena native officially marks his return with the arrival of his highly-anticipated debut solo album, The Truth Is In My Eyes. Available HERE via Surf Club

The Truth Is In My Eyes was produced entirely by globally renowned beatmaker Hit-Boy, who’s up for Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical and Best Rap Album nominations at the 2024 Grammys. The 17-track project is laden with emotional depth and unfurls into a profound exploration of personal growth and truth seeking.

It’s also important to note that The Truth Is In My Eyes will be released on JPay so that incarcerated people can hear Big Hit’s debut project, too. The album will be made available to stream exclusively on bighitnupid.com before making its way to DSPs later this month.

Big Hit’s bold business model goes against industry standards. He’s traversing previous lanes by daring to be different, and none of this would have been possible without the help of his Grammy-winning son, Hit-Boy. He’s the anchor that spearheaded the release of his dad’s album from start to finish. But more importantly, Hit-Boy has provided a roadmap for black economic progress achieved by leveraging his relationships and successful risk-taking. One of which includes fully funding the album in its entirety, while choosing to remain independent.

The Truth Is In My Eyes can be purchased a la carte through Big Hit’s self-proclaimed ‘Out The Trunk’ model on his website, which encourages fans to make an offer for the album. He’s also selling his limited edition “The Truth Is In My Eyes” hoodies exclusively at H. Lorenzo Archive, today, from 8pm-12am PST. This approach presents the opportunity for people to buy-in to Hit’s independent movement while supporting him post-incarceration.

The album is a footprint of Big Hit’s maturation, inviting listeners to embark on a journey of self-reflection. More than anything, it’s a snapshot of where he’s at in life right now – a more nuanced, process-oriented version of Chauncey Hollis Sr. The Truth Is In My Eyes is also home to a star-studded list of features including Snoop DoggThe AlchemistMusiq SoulchildBenny The ButcherMozzyDom KennedyJ. Stone, and Jay Worthy to name a few.

Big Hit has become an unlikely hero amongst street rappers. His new offering follows a busy slate of singles released this year, such as the title track “The Truth Is In My Eyes,” “The Pain Is Deep,” “Extra Clips,” and “Boo Bop.” The latter was released in partnership with Amazon Music to celebrate hip-hop’s 50th anniversary. (Not to mention, Big Hit received his first billboard in the heart of Times Square in New York City to promote the song.) Then, there’s Hit’s most recent two-part video single “A$VP Chauncey / Load ‘Em Up” featuring Baby Stone Gorillas

Although he has a notable solo discography (highlighted by the regional smash “Grindin’ My Whole Life”), Big Hit’s prowess as a collaborator is what’s going to take his career to the next level – and it starts with his latest entry.

As a special treat for his fans, this Saturday (Dec. 16), Big Hit is celebrating his album release by hosting an art exhibit at Bottom Bunk in Los Angeles, CA from 5-8pm PST. There’s also an exclusive merchandise pack that includes limited edition t-shirts and CD’s along with handcrafted art pieces, which will be available for purchase at the event.
