DC The Don steadily built a loyal fanbase with his ambitious songwriting and sonic versatility. Getting in his feelings as he celebrates his 24th birthday, DC shares “Tell Shyanne,” a luscious new ballad. Riding a sumptuous bassline and accompanied by synthesized strings, DC wanders through a party, basking in the glow of his shiny new Maybach and thinking about a relationship gone wrong: “Tell Shyanne to delete my number,” he sings. Perhaps the most R&B-leaning track in DC’s burgeoning catalog, “Tell Shyanne” follows the recent release of “STOP HATING,” an aggressive message to his doubters.
“Tell Shyanne” is DC’s second new single since garnering a spot on the 2023 XXL Freshman Class. DC won the fan-voted 10th Spot competition to earn his place on the coveted Freshman list. He demonstrated his off-top talent during his XXL Freshman Freestyle and stole the show in his XXL Freshman cypher alongside Luh Tyler, Rob49, TiaCorine and more.
In May, DC The Don released FUNERAL, his wide-ranging third album. A diverse and tuneful body of work, FUNERAL takes an immersive look inside DC The Don’s world of hard-edged raps and hyperpop melodies, skillfully blending the two sides of his personality that dominated each half of last year’s ambitious My Own Worst Enemy. DC took FUNERAL on the road this spring, when he served as support for $NOT on his “Get Busy Or Die Tour,” alongside Night Lovell and Eem Triplin. DC and $NOT recently collaborated for the SoundCloud-exclusive slapper “WHO THIS?”. DC recently turned the heat up at Rolling Loud Miami, performing a fiery set during his first-ever performance at the World’s Largest Hip-Hop Festival.
Stay tuned for much more music from DC The Don in the near future.
