Quality Control artist SCY Jimm has just shared his new highly-anticipated mixtape Highly Favored, along with a new video for “Retarded”. Ever since being donned with his QC pendant chain from QC label boss Pee earlier this year, SCY Jimm has been on an unparalleled hot streak, dropping a healthy balance of flex-heavy tracks and the pensive two-pack of singles “In Too Deep” / “Wrecked the Cat”, which are both responses to real-life experiences – after he was the victim of a targeted shooting in Daytona, and crashed his newly gifted “Hellcat” from Pee. After showcasing his candid street raps and detailed storytelling throughout the year while battling through the recent adversity, SCY Jimm is now making his definitive statement with his second project of the year, Highly Favored, which includes features from fellow Floridian BLP KOSHER and Gloss Up. Backed by a number of successful singles like “Members In”, “Selling Slabs” and “Ain’t Original” (feat. BLP KOSHER), Highly Favored arrives as his second project with QC, and finds SCY Jimm not only proving his staying power as a key player in Florida’s sprawling Hip-Hop scene, but simultaneously elevating his knack for clever, deeply reflective bars.
Despite not being from a major city in Florida, SCY Jimm has been working tirelessly to set himself apart from his contemporaries through his candid ruminations and tight-knit bar work. Hailing from the small town of Bunnell, Florida – with a population of only around 3,000, SCY Jimm’s star power was first highlighted by a number of regionally beloved projects like 2021’s Last Call. After SCY Jimm’s breakthrough year in 2022 with the release of his heartfelt mixtape ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, on which he successfully united his state by collaborating with artists from different areas all across Florida to come together artistically on the project, he signed to QC, and kicked off this year with the release of his debut project with the label, Trench Baby. Laser-focused on his musical career, SCY Jimm is continuing to use his music to express his contemplative thoughts while still delivering eccentric flexes – carving out a lane for himself as a fundamental artist of his state’s flourishing Hip-Hop scene in the process.
