Being an independent musician has never offered more ways to reach people. It has also never come with quite so many things to keep track of.

Release a song. Update Spotify. Post a video. Promote the show. Send an email. Work on the website. Upload something to YouTube. Sell a few shirts. Then figure out what to post tomorrow.

Somewhere in there, you are also supposed to make music.

That problem is one reason I put together Content Marketing for Independent Musicians in 2026: How to Turn Songs, Stories, Videos, and Shows Into a Career People Can Follow.

The complete music marketing guide is free to download.

The guide also includes helpful copy-and-paste prompts that artists can customize for their own music, audience, releases, shows and marketing goals.

Music Marketing Should Work Together

The guide is not based on the idea that musicians need another social media account or a longer daily checklist.

It takes the opposite approach.

The goal is to make the things you already do work together.

Your website can be the place where people find your music, current shows, videos, merchandise and story.

Social media can introduce people to you and keep your name familiar.

Spotify gives listeners an easy way to hear the music.

YouTube can hold performances, interviews, music videos, rehearsals and other material people may discover months or even years later.

Email gives you a direct way to stay in touch with fans.

None of these has to do the entire job.

Get More From the Content You Already Have

One of the easiest ways to make music promotion more manageable is to stop assuming every post needs to begin from scratch.

Suppose you record a good interview about your new single.

That conversation could also provide material for a website story, several short videos, an email, a YouTube upload, social posts and even a press pitch.

The same applies to live performances, rehearsals, studio footage and songwriting stories.

You are not repeating yourself for the sake of filling space. You are giving people different ways to find the same story.

That is especially useful when promoting a new single.

Release day should not be the end of the campaign. Lyrics, demos, recording stories, acoustic performances, live versions and fan questions can keep a song in circulation long after it first appears on streaming services.

Practical Help for Shows, Tours and Streaming

The free guide also covers individual concert promotion and full tours.

Those are not quite the same job.

A local show needs a reason for people in that area to care. A tour needs an overall story, but it also needs promotion aimed at each city along the route.

There are also sections on Spotify, YouTube, Bandcamp, direct music sales, merchandise, podcasts, artist websites and search visibility.

AI tools are covered as well, including prompts that can help with planning, brainstorming, editing and organizing campaigns.

The point is not to have software speak for you. Your stories, opinions, humor and experiences are what make the material worth reading or watching in the first place.

The guide was created for independent musicians, bands, songwriters, managers, publicists and others helping artists promote their work without a major-label marketing department.

You do not have to read it all at once.

Start with the problem you are dealing with today.

Planning a single? Read that section.

Need more people at a show? Start there.

Website badly out of date? Fix that first.

The entire guide is available free through Gumroad. It is the complete edition, not a sample or shortened preview.
