Multiplatinum musician and entrepreneur Yo Gotti released his new Gangsta Grillz mixtape, I Showed U So, that includes collaborations with DJ Drama, Moneybagg Yo and Rich Homie Quan and is available to stream on all platforms via CMG Records.
The 10-song mixtape showcases Gotti’s versatility, transitioning from gritty lyrics on “Pop My Shit” to romantic rhymes on “The One.” With the latter, the Memphis native displays a vulnerable side to his artistry, rapping “you give me butterflies in my stomach” and “every day like Valentine’s Day.”
I Showed U So also reunites Gotti with Rich Homie Quan for their new collaboration on “Mandarin.” The duo previously teamed up on the smash single “I Know” that dropped 10 years ago as part of Gotti’s acclaimed studio album, I Am.
The release of I Showed U So also comes after Gotti unveiled his “No Fake Love” single on July 27 along with a corresponding video that included an appearance from Angela Simmons. The video – which you can watch HERE – made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU, Yo! MTV and on the Paramount Times Square billboards.
I Showed U So serves as the long-awaited, follow-up to Gotti’s Gangsta Grillz project, I Told U So, which he released with DJ Drama in 2006 and included collaborations with Slim Thug, Young Buck, Lil Keke and more. The iconic mixtape served as a breakthrough release for Gotti’s career.
At the time of Gotti’s 2006 mixtape release, the Memphis native leveraged the project to speak his successes into existence. Now 17 years later, the CMG CEO is celebrating the triumphant manifestation and execution of his dreams and accomplishments.
I Showed U So also marks Gotti’s first solo music release since February 2022, when he dropped his 11th studio album, CM10: Free Game. The project debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and marked the highest-charting album in his esteemed career.
To date, Gotti has landed five consecutive Top-10 album debuts on the Billboard Top 200 with I Am (2013), The Art of Hustle (2016), I Still Am (2017), Untrapped (2020) and CM10: Free Game (2022).
The announcement of his I Showed U So mixtape comes shortly after Gotti joined First Lady Dr. Jill Biden at The White House to host a Major League Soccer Youth Clinic, where they converted the White House lawn into a soccer field.
Gotti serves as the co-owner of DC United – one of the most prestigious franchises in the Major League Soccer’s history – and he participated in various festivities around the MLS All-Star Game that took place in Washington D.C.
