In true fashion, NY is back on the map for the latest fire streetwear to come out of the city. Modern-day visionary Pete Vil, is a humble yet imaginative individual who serves as the latest thriving talent making waves in the streetwear scene.
In fact, his stylistic story starts in childhood, almost mythologically, when he was introduced to the harmonious resonance of music and fashion. Pete’s musical muse, Kris Kross, instilled in him not only beats to tap his feet to, but also a style sense that matched them. It was a cassette tape given to him from his mom, a gateway drug into an artistic universe where rhythm and rhyme, swag and style were inseparable. The four-year-old version of himself, dressed in attire modified by his admiration, began constructing the groundwork for a fashion-forward future, clothed in artistic armor.
Pete Vil’s journey with fashion started spontaneously, almost cosmically. It was an inner urge embedded into his DNA, everlasting but patiently waiting for the appropriate time to manifest. His venture into fashion is a clear representation of a meaningful existence. Pete is known for his level of detail, and his clever needle and instinctive grasp of color combinations conveying volumes that simple words can’t.
Surrounded by peers, the appeal of being fly, being outside, and the attention and feelings it provided excited him. Friends in music (Square Off) and art designer (Chandler Benard Society) did merch for the Square Off Tour, and seeing how the music and clothing intermingled influenced him greatly. It gave him the best feeling to see people supporting and admiring each other’s work, which inspired him to pursue the idea of starting his own business. He wanted to hustle for his last name and have a future for his kids, so he founded his very own brand.
For Pete, fashion is more than just fabric; it is a visible expression of identity, demonstrating independent thought, imagination, and style. The very essence of freedom — the freedom to create, the freedom to express, and, finally, the freedom to be is instilled in him. These threads of thought and texture became increasingly intricate, connecting the concepts of art, music, and fashion. Pete Vil’s calling rang out in the harmony of creation as he observed the symbiotic relationship between music and merchandise, as well as the mutual respect that the two worlds shared. Pete Vil’s passion to The Vil extends beyond stitching fabrics to stitching storytelling. Merch serves more than just a practical purpose; it tells a story and links an audience to an artist and to one another.
With that being said, the Vil is ready to hit the streets of New York, so mark your calendars now!
