SymphonyOS is 6 years in the making, started by a team that has spent thousands of hours working side-by-side with artists. In 2016 Chuka Chase and Megh Vakharia started Integral Studio, an agency that built websites for everyone from SZA to Travis Scott. As they learned how fans and artists interact through those experiences, the agency expanded their services into merchandise and eventually digital marketing to help artists build sustainable businesses from their fans and how artists can develop “superfans.” In 2022, with the marketing expertise gained and the insights from fan data that they had collected since 2016, the team released the beta version of SymphonyOS—the first marketing platform built to help creators put their fanbase growth on autopilot through its suite of smart, automated marketing tools.
Downtown Artist & Label Services, part of Downtown Music, offers white-glove music distribution services, digital retail promotion and ad strategy, strategic marketing solutions, project management and funding to entrepreneurial artists, labels, and their partners. With an innate talent for forecasting the next big moment in music, the company continues to remain on the forefront of exploding genres such as Musica Mexicana, and LoFi, and as a preferred choice for top artists and labels over the major label system.
Downtown Artist & Label Services clients Hunter Hayes, mehro, and Ryan Nealon have been leveraging Symphony’s suite of AI marketing tools to drive their objectives
In today’s competitive music industry, artists are constantly seeking innovative ways to market their music effectively. However, the time and effort required to master the intricacies of digital marketing pull artists away from their primary passion—making music.
Downtown Artist & Label Services, a leading music distribution and label services company that sits within the Downtown Music group and boasts a roster of established and emerging artists, has been at the forefront of adopting new tactics and strategies to help their artists succeed.
Recognizing the need for a powerful, user-friendly marketing solution, Downtown Artist & Label Services turned to SymphonyOS, an AI-powered marketing operating system designed to give artists the tools they need to grow their business.
After running several successful campaigns on SymphonyOS with artists like Hunter Hayes, mehro, and Ryan Nealon, Downtown Artist & Label Services found that the platform reliably delivered effective marketing results in a fraction of the time required with alternative services. Today, Downtown Artist & Label Services and SymphonyOS have formally announced their partnership to provide cutting-edge marketing tools to artists at a reduced price.
“As we see the needs of artists and their teams evolving rapidly, SymphonyOS’ suite of tools represents an important shift in the way we and our partners can make the most informed decisions, with the goal of developing a targeted fan base of authentic listeners,” says Geoff Halliday, VP of Marketing, Downtown Artist & Label Services.
SymphonyOS, who announced their $1m pre-seed fundraising round in August 2023, provides more than 40,000 artists a one-stop-shop for artist marketing. The SymphonyOS suite includes AI-powered campaign creation, aggregated analytics, a website builder tool, and unique features like Forever Saves, which allow fans to “subscribe” to an artist’s future releases effortlessly.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Downtown Artist & Label Services and bring our AI-powered marketing tools to their incredible roster of artists,” said SymphonyOS CEO Megh Vakharia. “Our mission is to empower every artist with the tools & knowledge they need to succeed in today’s digital landscape, and this partnership allows us to do just that on a larger scale.”
The results from the trial were impressive. For Billboard chart-topping multi-genre singer-songwriter Hunter Hayes, SymphonyOS proved invaluable in boosting ticket sales and reaching new listeners during a pivotal rebranding period. Using the platform’s AI-powered marketing tools and automated campaign optimization, Hayes targeted potential fans in new markets, increased ticket sales in underperforming cities, and gained valuable insights into his fan base.
Similarly, LA-based artist Ryan Nealon turned to strategic ad spends using SymphonyOS Conversions to extend the reach of his videos, resulting in a remarkable 99% audience growth in his following around an individual song release. Reaching new audiences in a crowded music landscape is one of the most critical and challenging aspects of any artist’s journey, and Nealon nailed it.
mehro, an indie singer-songwriter, also benefited from using SymphonyOS. mehro was able to quickly create effective ads, gather valuable audience insights, and make data-driven decisions for his future marketing efforts.
Through a two-week campaign following the release of his new song mehro reached 784,000 new potential fans.
“The data you see [on SymphonyOS] is very user friendly, especially for people who don’t know how to run ads,” says Ryan Lassi, mehro’s Marketing Manager. “[It] feels like the algorithm knows what it’s doing, and takes the thinking out of it. Suddenly, anyone can become a digital marketer,” exactly what artists and partners like Downtown Music need and what SymphonyOS is designed to do.
