Kehlani does us all a favor with the Folded Homage Pack. As a true student of the game and a proper vocalist, Kehlani expressed in a social media post their deep connection to R&B as a “child of RnB… a student, a fan, an admirer, a faithful servant“. They shared the importance of each of the legends involved. Confessing that they are, “embedded in my DNA, from voice to pen,” emphasizing the personal importance of collaborating with such musical inspirations. In an interview the artist shared, around the time recording began for “Folded,” they were listening to a lot of Brandy. Kehlani saw the project as divinely orchestrated, noting it “wasn’t planned, the song came out and God said sit back & watch“. They concluded by thanking those who have “paved the way,” specifically mentioning the contributing artists: Toni Braxton, Brandy, JoJo, Mario, Ne-Yo, and Tank. Kehlani’s individual reactions included calling Brandy her musical “MOTHERRRRRRR” describing her addition as “the highest honor“. The Homage Pack is a tribute to the legacy of R&B and such influential artists. This tribute is very personal for Kehlani and will be adored by true R&B lovers worldwide.
