Grammy-nominated R&B artist Jon B. will host a benefit in Los Angeles on Sept. 13 to support families rebuilding after the Eaton Fire. The four-hour event, scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. at 4654 W. Washington Blvd., will combine an art exhibition with live DJ sets, with a $20 admission donation benefiting the Greenline Housing Foundation, a Pasadena nonprofit focused on housing access and community recovery. The evening will feature photography by Camille Stemmons and Manny Shorter, along with music from Jon B., Beat Ventriloquists and Garfield Adams.
The event also reflects the ongoing connection between the arts and local recovery efforts. Rather than focusing solely on fundraising, organizers are creating a space where photography, music and community can come together around a cause that continues to affect Southern California residents. With Jon B. participating both as a performer and host, the evening is expected to blend entertainment with an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the work being done to help displaced families move forward.
The fundraiser comes as residents of Altadena and Pasadena continue to deal with the aftermath of the Eaton Fire, which destroyed homes, displaced families and claimed lives. Greenline has expanded its recovery work while continuing its broader efforts around homeownership and wealth-building in historically underserved communities. The organization says it has committed more than $4.6 million to related efforts nationwide. For Jon B., the event is an opportunity to use music and visual art to keep attention on families whose recovery continues long after the initial disaster.
