The Kansas City lyricist turns outside noise into a statement of independence and personal evolution.
“WHAT THEY TALKIN BOUT” — THE RECORD
Released September 25, 2026, through TGC Records LLC, “What They Talkin Bout” finds Kansas City rapper TGC Johnny Stone examining shifting loyalties, outside opinions, and the choice to keep moving forward without seeking approval.
Over a steady, soulful hip-hop groove, Stone delivers conversational bars with a composed confidence. The title suggests a confrontation, but the record moves in another direction: instead of answering every critic, the artist lets his progress do the talking.
GROWTH WITHOUT PERMISSION
The song’s central idea is simple: growth does not require an audience’s permission. Its measured delivery and reflective outlook turn familiar experiences of doubt and changing relationships into a statement of self-direction.
THE ARTIST BEHIND THE RECORD

Known as “Soul Brotha Numba 3,” TGC Johnny Stone is an independent rapper and songwriter rooted in Kansas City, Missouri. His music draws on hip-hop’s storytelling tradition, pairing introspection and streetwise soul with a relaxed, deliberate delivery.
Influenced by 2Pac, Nas, Outkast, and Curren$y, Stone approaches his work as both a lyricist and an independent builder. He releases music through TGC Records LLC and has also brought his songs to the stage, including a live-band performance at Kansas City’s 18th & Vine Arts Festival.
“What They Talkin Bout” has received coverage from Foxfire Magazine and Freim.tv, extending the conversation around the record’s themes of growth, confidence, and independence.
For Stone, representing Kansas City is the starting point—not the limit. His outlook remains rooted in making music that connects beyond his hometown while allowing the work to speak for itself.
