Andrew Pierce, University of Delaware Running Back, Has Twice Been Associated with the Walter Payton Award
Andrew Pierce is Strong Believer of Giving Back to His Community, Looks up to Walter Payton
The Walter Payton Award Watch List is a list of players who have the potential to be nominated for the Walter Payton Award. At the end of every football season, the Walter Payton Award is given to the most outstanding offensive player. Media and Sports Information Directors chose the nominees. As a national award, first awarded in 1987, it’s an honor to be nominated. In fact, it’s an honor to be potentially be nominated for the Walter Payton Award twice.
Andrew Pierce is a running back at University of Delaware. As a junior, Pierce landed a spot on Walter Payton Award Watch List. Last season, Andrew Pierce was nominated as a sophomore and finished 14th in the voting. The Bridgeton, NJ native is ranked third in the FCS by his statistics in rushing. He has 608 rushing attempts, 112.8 rushing yards per game. He is ranked fourth in total rushing yardage (2,934) and rushing touchdowns (30).
Now, he has the opportunity to wow the nation again. Which is an amazing accomplishment. Sports Cipher caught up with Andrew Pierce. Here’s what he had to say:
