When Kanye West dropped “Way Too Cold” this past May, he professed his love for Kim Kardashian and dissed her ex-husband of 72 days, pro basketball player Kris Humphries, at the same damn time.
“And I’ll admit, I fell in love with Kim/Around the same time, she fell in love with him/Well, that’s cool, baby girl do your thing/Lucky I didn’t have Jay drop him from the team,” Yeezy spit on the track.
(On the latter line, ’Ye was referring to the fact that his big bro Jay-Z is a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets franchise that Humphries plays for and so, the young player’s livelihood is seemingly in the hands of his great friend, Hov).
Well, fast forward a couple months later and Jay didn’t quite drop him from the team. Instead, he re-upped. The Brooklyn Nets and Humphries agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $24 million on Tuesday (July 17). But the news of the payday wasn’t enough for Humphries.
Kim K’s ex hubby used the moment to take a jab at Yeezy.
“I’m up at Brooklyn!” Humphries tweeted Tuesday. “@S_C_ “lucky I didn’t have Jay drop me from the team” lol!”
The comment marked the second time in the span of just over two months that Kris Humphries has taken a dig at Kanye.
Shortly after the Louis Vuitton Don dropped “Way Too Cold,” Humphries mocked Kanye—and himself—in a FunnyorDie skit entitled, Kris Humphries is a Douchebag. In the clip, Humphries wears Kanye’s trademark shutter glasses, while mockingly reciting Yeezy’s lyrics to “Runaway.”
The Nets will count on Humphries to help them finish better in the upcoming 2012-13 season than they did this past year, which had them totaling 22 wins and 44 losses
