300x300 Hip Hop High Rollers

Last year, there was a very amusing infographic released regarding Jay Z. The infograhpic in question documented the expensive brands he so often dropped into his lyrical content. The point we are trying to get across is that these brands; Gucci, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lexus and so on, are all premium brands that you’d associate with the spend thrifts of the hip-hop world. Not known for being inconspicuous, hip-hop artist are often photographed living it up in the most grandeur of casinos, throwing dollar bills around like Monopoly money.

Ever since the likes of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur began making millions, they found themselves regularly in casinos across America. And unfortunately for Shakur it was from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas that he met his maker en route to a nightclub after a Mike Tyson fight in 1996. A year that was heralded as the year poker saw a dramatic increase in popularity due to some of the world’s superstar seeing frequenting casinos on the Strip in Vegas and it was also the year that the world first sample Internet gaming through InterCasino.

But the puck didn’t stop with the likes of Shakur and Smalls when it came to regularly frequenting casinos, this transcended to today’s generation of hip hop megastars. Nelly a veteran in the hip hop game now, made the news in the past for [ignoring the rules while in a Missouri establishment]. And then you only have to look at Jay Z’s aspirations that he had of getting into the casino industry back in 2010 in New York, which eventually fell apart. These extravagant settings seem ingrained into the hip hop makeup.

So much so that we often see Vegas casinos showcased in music videos ever since the inception of MTV. And with big personalities comes the desire for rich entertainment – something, which the music industry has in abundance.
