America has been under fire with several cases of government injustice in the eyes of many in the past few years and three of the hip-hop culture biggest names have stepped up to speak on the matter. Following the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner the year by police officers in Missouri and New York City and the decision not to indict both officers, many America’s are seeking answers, changes and justice and they want it now. Recently, Jay Z, Common and Russell Simmons met when New York governor Andrew Cuomo to discuss ways to reform the criminal justice system.
This comes in the mist of several NBA players voicing there support and paying homage to the life of Eric Garner. Photos surfaced earlier in the week of Jay Z and the Brooklyn Nets with the Nets players wearing “I Can’t Breathe” and the question was asked by many why didn’t Jay Z wear a shirt. Little did many know, not only did Jay Z deliver the shirts to the players, he had bigger fish to fry as he was set to meet with the Governor on ways to make change immediately.
Salute to Jay Z, Russell Simmons, Common and all the NBA players and people across the world standing up and voicing their opinion in the land of the FREE and home of the BRAVE!
