No matter how far Kyle Rapps, Hefna Gwap and Aaron Cohen go, they’ll always carry their neighborhoods on their back. Produced by Fudge, “Searchin,” borrows a slick sample of Roy Ayers’ hit of the same title, as originally featured on the ’71 release off his quinquennial LP, Ubiquity. The track seamlessly blends the off-the-record narrative of all three artists, as they reflect on their upbringing, fears, and individuality, as the beat builds over a set of breezy horns, and Biggie quotables. Directed by Jason Ano of ASAP Rocky’s “Purple Swag”fame, “Searchin,” shows us that in a time when the Internet has become the stomping ground for artists to exhibit their talent, your own community is still important. “Searchin” is now available on Kyle Rapps & Hefna Gwap’s free release, European Tic Tacs, which can be downloaded via Mishka’s Bandcamp page.
