Have we ever heard these 4 legendary hip-hop pioneers collaborate on a record together? I think not.. That is, up until about 4 years ago. The Beastie Boys, who have paved the way for artists like Eminem, Macklemore, Logic, & many more to do what they love, recruited NY’s savior of rap, Nas on their last ever recorded album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two back in 2011. Too Many Rappers, which tells the story like it is, never got a released visual during that time. 4 years later, film editor Neal Usatin, decides to emancipate the official video to the record at a time where it is truly necessary within the culture.
The late MCA, Ad-Rock, Mike D, & Nas walk through aisles of a grocery store, on the lawn of what looks to be something similar to the Lincoln Memorial, & even walk up (yes, walk up, not drive up) to a fast food drive thru to spit their rhymes & let it be known that there are too many rappers & not enough emcees.
The Brass Monkey emcees still got it. Too bad MCA wasn’t here to see this unveiling. May he rest in peace.
