Hip Hop had always been vocal about issues that affect us politically, socially, racially, etc. In recent years, it’s been a battle between watered down Rap and conscious Hip Hop. With Donald Trump becoming our new President elect, it’s really time for Hip Hop to step up to the plate again. And become a means of self-expression with purpose.
Hip Hop upstart, Chris Valentine, touches on important issues that have affected us during, and in the aftermath, of the 2016 Presidential election. On “Way Back Home,” Valentine presents an introspective song that sheds light on the societal divide in America.
