Psyah (Born January 10th, 1997) is a Hip-Hop recording artist from Port Moody (a suburb of Vancouver), Canada. His style is inspired from a new wave of classic Hip-Hop, EDM and soulful infusions that masterfully coalesce with his exuberant energy, clever flows and introspective lyrics to assemble the unique and empowering sound that is Psyah. Currently, Psyah is working on his upcoming EP entitled Cosmos that will be his first of many releases since returning from his musical hiatus.
To announce the upcoming EP release entitled Cosmos, Psyah teams up with Vancouver-native Hip-Hop heavyweight Brevner to incorporate the newfound perspective and expansion-based elements of the EP in a ‘close-to-home’ and down-to-earth manner. Psyah, being tired of the ‘same old’, feels like What You Need simply had to be done because he longed to do something much more real and meaningful in a more literal and direct fashion, in order to take his now-developed sound to the next level and really push himself out of his comfort zone. The contrast in lyrical content and approach gives a glimpse into the differences in not only character, but placement in their careers, respectively allowing for each to radiate in their own light.
When asked “Why Brevner on this song?” Psyah explains Brevner’s musical influence on his own artistry as well as going deeper to illustrate the intricacies and similarities in each artist’s style that shines through brilliantly on What You Need, despite the two taking a very different direction with the concept of a woman’s faith, or lack-thereof. He hopes this introduction to the ideologies and conceptualization of ‘thinking out loud’ lyrically (as is the approach to Cosmos) begins to show the truth and sincerity behind the EP both conceptually, and as a whole.
