On Wednesday March 8th, the Atlanta Hawks ending their three game losing streak and moved on to a record of (35-29) after defeating the (11-52) Brooklyn Nets.
The Atlanta Hawks needed to bounce back after dropping three games in a row at Philips Arena and they were able to do so against one of the worst teams in the NBA. Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder played extremely well scoring 31 points with 5 assist on (10-21) shooting from the field. Hawks all-star Paul Millsap also shot (10-21) from the floor scoring 24 points in 38 minutes of play. Newly acquired point guard Jose Calderon saw his first action as a Hawk on Wednesday night. Calderon went scoreless in his 11 minutes of action. Hawks big man Dwight Howard was vocal on his team staying positive and remaining focused on the bigger picture during the losing streak. Howard allowed his play to speak for him on the court scoring 11 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
The Brooklyn Nets fought all night and gave the Hawks everything they could handle all game long. At one point in the game, the Nets even had a nine point lead on Atlanta. Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson was once an assistant with the Atlanta Hawks and he knew his opponents quite well. Sean Kilpatrick was the leading scorer for the Nets scoring 27 points on (8-14) shooting from the field off the bench. Nets big man Brook Lopez added 18 points scoring while Jeremy Lin added 16 points and 8 assist.
Following the game we caught up with Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer, point guard Dennis Schroder, Paul Millsap and Tim Hardaway Jr. Dennis Schroder & Coach Bud spoke on bouncing back for a tough loss and staying positive on the course. Paul Millsap and Tim Hardaway Jr spoke on closing the game.
The Atlanta Hawks return to action on Friday night in their final home game of their current six game home stretch. On Friday night, the Atlanta Hawks will face DeMar DeRozan and the Toronto Raptors.
