Random.. but has anyone ever seen “My Baby’s Daddy”? This song reminds me of the end of the movie when all the “baby daddies” let go of their childish ways and became the men they needed to be for their kids. Triumphant.
Cali native Mark Gavigan steps out of the writers den and displays his talents as an accomplished musician with a positive wordplay with his new offering, “Picture Day”. He taps in with Detroit Children’s Choir on the collaborative effort, which serves as the second single to his forthcoming album, “Good Choices”.
The really admirable thing about the entire rollout to Gark’s forthcoming album is that 100% of the proceeds will be going towards local non-profits in his hometown, as well as San Francisco.
“Picture Day,” produced by Jakarta Records standout Dr. Dundiff, takes a look back at school picture days — rocking the fresh fit, the fly honey in first period, using the complimentary white background ’cause you can’t afford the red/blue/green options — and how the pictures encapsulate a moment in time that’s never forgotten. The track takes a more cathartic turn in the second verse as Gark addresses those who’ve passed on and how they would want him to live life to the fullest: “Life’s a one-shot take, you’re supposed to flex / When you strike that pose, you better pose a threat.”
Gark calls this one a nostalgic, College Dropout-esque record. With the feel of the culture in the early 2000’s, the emcee paints a beautiful picture of his idea on “Picture Day”. This one is to be respected.
