Brian Jai has to be one of the dopest artists out of New London, Connecticut. He came back with another one July 16th with what has to be one of his best records so far: “Waiting”. Jai’s pen game as well as that of Erick “E.L.” Morton (formerly of Divine Mill Records) are really prominent on this joint, as Brian wants an important woman in his world to know that this thing of theirs is entirely worth waiting for.
This song was composed by Troy Oliver who also produced the record with assistance from Morton as well as Brian Johnson. The record is quite emotive, and founds Brian Jai very much in his bag: concocting heartfelt R&B tracks that alchemize genre nostalgia and Pop to create something that somehow feels new. The ability to do this consistently is a big part of why Brian Jai is worth keeping an eye on.
