There is something instantly gratifying about listening to a great pop song. The hooks, the beat, the vocals, the production always on top of the game, and a really big sound that can drive your speaker to dish out some of the best sounds around! This is exactly what to expect from Dylan Walker’s music! This artist is driven to inspire people with his charismatic melodies and his bright, uplifting sounds. Even if we are in the middle of January, the cold and sometimes unforgiving winter weather, it has not stopped Dylan from putting out his huge summer banger titled ‘Summer Time Love’. This is exactly the kind of pop song that really hits the mark in many ways. Today, it seems like there is a trend that always calls for pop music being increasingly gloomy and based on dark textures. It’s all fine and dandy, don’t get me wrong – but where is the hope? where is the brightness? Dylan Walker is here to bring plenty of great vibes. A song like ‘Summer Time Love’ is incredibly powerful. Not only is this track incredibly appealing for a large demographic of listener, but it is also uniquely creative, a direct reflection of Dylan’s ability to express himself through music in a very personal way. His vocals fall in the place where pop and soul vocals overlap, capturing the mass appeal of the former, and the nuances of the latter. With so much talent in a single production, it is not all that surprising to hear that the song is doing really really well, much like Dylan’s previous releases. 2021 was also a rather productive year for the artist, who released well-received tracks such as ‘When I Was A Kid’, and ‘Life Began With You’, only to mention but a few. The production value of his music is really off the charts. His songs are just as punchy and big-sounding as you would expect, competing with some of the heavy hitters in the pop game with ease. Even without such amazing production chops, the music is still amazing, because it is impossible not to immediately connect and empathise with Dylan’s wonderful voice and sound. Some people might think of pop songs as easy to write, but in my opinion, they are some of the most difficult tunes to pull off. It’s really easy to pull up something like a modular synthesiser and do some experimental sounds and call it a day. However, taking the time to write actual melodies and lyrics that express some kind of emotion is a different level. Dylan has made his songwriting into a truly recognisable formula, using his voice and soulful delivery as a way to bring more personality and depth to his tracks. There are many singers who attempt this combination of sounds, but not many are able to achieve such as distinctive tone, that doesn’t necessarily sound to close to that of other established artists (although Dylan is often compared to icons such as Ed Sheeran!)
