Balancing dark, brooding lyrics with smooth, silky melodies, Dro Kenji’s music masterfully channels the elusive overlap of grief and contentment. Those themes are ever present on his latest cut, “OVER & OVER,” out today via MiraTouch. Carefully navigating the track’s instrumental pockets of acoustic guitar melodies and bouncy percussion with his elastic flows, “OVER & OVER” finds Kenji caught in a destructive cycle of heartbreak that he only slips further into the more he tries to escape it: “That’s just the other side, like who are you? I’ve seen you before/I got amnesia, my head hurts, and I’m falling on the floor.”
“OVER & OVER” is the latest off of Kenji’s upcoming project, WISH U WERE HERE, which is dropping in July via MiraTouch/Internet Money Records/10K Projects.
