0-2 Elliott Wilson Experience Episode Three features Common and Pete Rock

Elliott Wilson released the third episode of his podcast Elliott Wilson Experience featuring Common and Pete Rock.

In this episode, Common recalls overlooking Kanye West’s stardom and says “I’m victim too, Ye was trying to give me beats back like in 97, I had no idea. His drums weren’t there yet, and if the drums ain’t have that, it didn’t hit me right here. Then eventually I was like come on bro, save me bro.”

Additionally, he discusses the new -found longevity in hip-hop artists and uses Ye and Kendrick Lamar as an example saying “two dudes be growing with their styles, like sounds on their album is Kanye and Kendrick. Like “good kid” is not like “To Pimp of Butterfly” is not like “DAMN.,” Ye’s all his joints, “College Dropout,” you can feel the evolution there.”

He also talks hip-hop aging finally and saying “A lot of people we looked at that are GREATS, didn’t keep evolving and delivering new stuff, like the fresher sound. But, then you started getting new artists we just talked about it with Ye or even what JAY did with 4:44, that’s one of his best album to me, that’s showing maturity and evolution.”

Most recently, Elliott launched the podcast with the inaugural episode featuring breakout NYC hip-hop artist Cash Cobain where he shared his perspective on the criticism that J. Cole received after collaborating with him on the “Grippy” remix. Elliott Wilson Experience podcast will drop weekly episodes featuring the music industry’s heavyweight talents, rising stars, executives and innovators via HipHopDX’s YouTube channel and available on all streaming platforms.
