Milwaukee rapper Chicken P has just shared his new mixtape Chick James, Vol. 1 out now via Really Rich Empire / 10K Projects. Chicken P is still riding the momentum from July EP Still Bussin, which has seen a 700% increase in streams since its release this summer after Sexyy Red co-signed the track “Look Like”. An ode to the Pop icon Rick James, Chicken P’s mixtape, Chick James, Vol. 1, is a soulful expansion of his signature street-heavy sound that’s quickly turned him into a heavyweight in the Midwest Hip-Hop scene. With his candid depiction of his come-up within Milwaukee street life consistently on display, Chicken P has set himself apart from the rest of his state’s artists by refusing to adhere to the regional “lowend” sound on every release. The new mixtape arrives amid Chicken P’s ongoing run supporting 42 Dugg on his nationwide 4eva Us Neva Them Tour—tickets available here.
Following his biggest single to date “Venting” (15M+ Streams) and the “People’s Favorite” Remix (feat. 42 Dugg), Chicken P’s new mixtape is his fifth release this year. Having racked up recent co-signs from Hip-Hop heavyweights like Sexyy Red, who recently brought him out as a surprise guest at her Milwaukee show, as well as Peezy, YTB Fatt, Veeze, Rylo Rodriguez, Skilla Baby, and Babyface Ray, plus NBA star Jalen Green, Chicken P has been rapidly building an impressive fanbase while turning heads in the industry thanks to his unique sound and role in leading the Milwaukee bounce scene into the mainstream.
