Los Angeles, CA — September 20, 2025 — What began as a simple meeting of the minds has blossomed into a powerful new tradition: the Cultural Alliance Awards. Co-founded in collaboration with PSLA’s executive partner Lovett Love and Founder’s Community Center’s Ms. Lauren Grant, the event was inspired by a shared vision—to create a space where film, music, and cultural collaboration converge.

The idea was sparked when Ms. Grant asked one simple question: ‘Why don’t you screen your movie?’ From there, the seed was planted. With a career that spans international film festivals, award-winning roles, and groundbreaking projects—from Paul Lockett’s Life Chronicles at the Chinese Theatre, to Perdell Richardson’s work at the Greater Cleveland Film Festival, to the San Diego Film Festival’s Best Actor win, and the sci-fi faith-based triumph Know Mercy—which also won Best Picture at the Culver City 2024 Film Festival—the foundation was already set.

This year’s Cultural Alliance Awards will also proudly honor K-Pop Demon Hunters with the award for Best New Movie, highlighting international storytelling at its finest and recognizing the global rise of innovative cinema.

But for founder Marwan Natate Granville, the Cultural Alliance Awards carry a deeper, personal meaning. The event is dedicated to the memory and legacy of his father, Alton Ray Granville, who instilled in his nine children the values of education, resilience, and perseverance. Despite suffering complications from a botched back surgery, his father remained a guiding light until his passing. Granville recalls telling him, ‘Dad, I finally found my cash cow—I’m going to South Korea, directing one of my biggest gigs.’ That moment became both a farewell and a promise.

“In honoring my father’s life, I also honor the global communities and organizations that embraced me,” Granville said. “Each year, the Cultural Alliance Awards will spotlight a different country, tied to our international series 101 Reasons to Visit. This way, we not only celebrate artistry but also bridge cultures across borders.”
