Houston has a long legacy of artists who define their own hustle, blending culture, ambition, and a specific energy that’s recognized worldwide. In this vibrant scene, DC Sniper has emerged as an artist known for bringing heat with every track. A first-generation Nigerian American artist, rapper, and actor, he channels the ambition he was raised with into both his creative and entrepreneurial work.
Now, DC Sniper is blessing fans with a smooth new record, “GAME 4 DAYS,” featuring 10Kace. Described as a “grown and sexy” track, it’s a follow-up to “Nights Like This” and sets the stage for his upcoming album, ‘Welcome to the Upside.’ We spoke with DC Sniper (DC Shad) to discuss the inspiration behind the new single, his message to the “gatekeepers,” and his unstoppable focus.
Q: Your new single, “GAME 4 DAYS,” has a smooth, wavy feel. The inspiration reportedly came from a beat just catching your ear in the studio. Can you take us into that creative moment?
DC Sniper: I heard the beat, and it literally hypnotized me to the point I started freestyling and came up with a melody. I finished the song the same day. The lyrics were inspired by what was happening and what I was going through at the time while promoting my second major single ‘Sunday Funday’. The people I thought were in my corner showed their true colors.
That was the shock I felt because I never thought they would hate on me. They must have felt I’m a threat to them because of everything I have going on.
Q: You’ve described the track as speaking from the perspective of being “counted out by gatekeepers” who hate on you for standing out. What message are you sending to them with this release?
DC Sniper: You can’t stop this motion.
Q: You have a powerful quote about not paying attention to haters and staying focused to become “unreachable and unstoppable.” How does this mindset, which you say comes from how you were raised, influence your music?
DC Sniper: I consider myself to be a free-minded thinker. In life, I feel you have to learn to adopt a bulletproof mindset and just focus on being the best version of you. You’re in a race with your own self. It’s like a relay race. Don’t let the noise distract you; just focus on your mission. You grab the baton and you go.
Q: “GAME 4 DAYS” is a follow-up to “Nights Like This” and is leading into your ‘Welcome to the Upside’ album. How does this new single set the tone for this upcoming project, which is slated for a January 2026 release?
DC Sniper: I feel like I’m giving people a really good dessert before the main course, just a piece of what’s to come. I’m setting the tone. Every song on the album has a different vibe to it, a different flavor. Expect some hard beats and some wavy melodies.
Q: As a first-generation Nigerian American artist, actor, and entrepreneur, you’re known for channeling hustle and ambition. How do these different parts of your identity come together in your music?
DC Sniper: It’s been in me for a long time, I’m finally in a place in life where I’m no longer shy about sharing talents with the world. I hope it inspires people to be themselves and have fun with it.
The conversation with DC Sniper makes it clear that “GAME 4 DAYS” is more than just a smooth track; it’s a statement of intent. It serves as a confident response to any “gatekeepers” and a declaration of his unstoppable motion, fueled by a relentless focus on being the best at what he does.
As this new “grown and sexy” single paves the way for his ‘Welcome to the Upside’ album, DC Sniper is cementing his place. He is stepping out, representing Houston, and proving that by staying focused on the work, you can’t be stopped.
