The Culture Creators Innovators & Leaders Awards Brunch took the weekend to recognize the influential figures shaping the culture behind the scenes. Celebrating its 10th anniversary at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on June 26, the annual gathering brought together artists, executives, entrepreneurs, athletes and tastemakers for an afternoon dedicated to honoring leadership, innovation and impact across entertainment, fashion, sports, media and business. Founded by Joi Brown-Lindsay, the event has evolved into one of the weekend’s signature stops, where industry relationships are strengthened and cultural achievements are recognized in front of the people helping drive the next generation forward.
Among this year’s honorees, Missy Elliott received the Amazon Music Visionary Icon Award, recognizing her decades-long influence on music, visual creativity and popular culture. Janelle James was honored for her accomplishments in film and television, while entertainment executive Suzanne de Passe received the Icon Award recognizing her lasting contributions across film, television and music. Jermaine Dupri accepted the Icon Award in Music, fashion trailblazer Bethann Hardison was celebrated for her pioneering work in the industry, Druski earned Innovator of the Year, former NFL standout Andrew Hawkins received the Sports Award and media entrepreneur Jason Lee was recognized with the Trailblazer Award for his impact across media and community engagement.
Beyond the awards, the brunch reflected the collaborative spirit that has become synonymous with Culture Creators over the past decade. Attendees included leaders from across music, entertainment, politics and business, with appearances from Master P, Gracie’s Corner, Trevor Jackson, Kem, Syrai Smith, Algee Smith, Jason Lee, Mona Scott-Young, Raheem DeVaughn, Donnell Rawlings, among several other executives and creatives who walked the red carpet and attended the brunch. Throughout the afternoon, conversations centered on preserving culture, creating opportunities and recognizing those whose influence often extends beyond headlines.
As the organization celebrated a decade of honoring Black excellence, the milestone event reinforced why the Culture Creators Awards Brunch has become one of the most respected gatherings during BET Awards Weekend. More than an awards ceremony, it continues to serve as a space where artists, executives, creatives and innovators are recognized not only for what they have accomplished, but for how they continue to shape the future of culture.
