2 Chainz and Statik Selektah are back together with “Reign,” a new collaboration featuring Young Nudy and Cash Cobain. Released as the pair continue building anticipation around a larger joint project, the track blends a familiar sample from 21st Century’s “Remember the Rain” with contemporary hip-hop production. Cash Cobain handles the hook with his distinct New York influence, while Young Nudy adds his relaxed delivery alongside 2 Chainz’s veteran presence. An accompanying music video was also released with the single.
The song follows “Pops,” which arrived in April and marked the first collaboration between 2 Chainz and Statik Selektah in this current run. “Reign” also comes after a major personal milestone for 2 Chainz, whose memoir, “The Voice in My Head Is God,” reached No. 1 on The New York Times nonfiction bestseller list. The book explores lessons from his late father and reflects on family, faith and the experiences that have shaped the Atlanta rapper beyond his music career.
Outside the studio, 2 Chainz continues to balance music with his work as an entrepreneur and media personality. The Grammy-winning rapper is currently touring with Lil Wayne for the latter’s 20th Anniversary Tour, with upcoming performances scheduled in New Jersey, New York, Nashville and other markets. Meanwhile, anticipation continues to build around a potential collaborative project from 2 Chainz and Statik Selektah, giving “Reign” another layer of significance for fans waiting to hear what the two artists have planned next.
