After Macworld came and went with no announcement about a Jay-Z/Apple music intiative, the “what’s he going to do next chatter” died down for a while and Jay’s been relatively quiet since. Now Rush & Molloy at the Post are claiming to have heard rumors that he’s working out some kind of label deal with Lyor over at Warner. They spoke to Lyor and he denied it, but of course Lyor is a lying TI, so anything is still possible. I would hope that after publicly hinting that Universal/Def Jam needed to figure out a new way to sell music, he wouldn’t turn around and ink a deal with another clueless major. Unless of course he knows something we don’t and Warner has something up their sleeves. But I highly doubt that.
