After a powerful swing and a brief stare to find it’s location, Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder sent a high fastball thrown by Texas Rangers pitcher C.J. Wilson to the AL’s bullpen as he cleared the bases with a 3 run Home Run in the fourth innings to prematurely seal the deal for the National League All-Stars.
Fielder who was also the NL captain for Monday nights Home Run Derby was catching flack from most of the crowd due to not selecting local Arizona Diamondback right fielder Justin Upton to slug it out in the derby. Boy oh boy did he silence his critics.
Down 1-0 with two men on base as he walked to the batters box one Swing turned Arizona fans boos to cheers. Once the NL took a 3-1 lead they never looked back. Fielders home run earned him the honor of being named the All-Star MVP sealing home field advantage for the National League in the 2011 Fall Classic. Fielder became the fourth first baseman to win the MVP award and the first Milwaukee Brewer to carry that title.
