YG’s My Krazy Life is one of the best albums of 2014. The rapper decided to give fans a glimpse of his life by arranging the album to see as if it was a day in his life. Unlike some rappers, YG has lived through the things he writes about. In a recent interview with Vibe, he spoke about his father going to jail, becoming a blood, and the first time he pulled out a gun on someone.
On the first time he pulled a gun,
My best friend gave me my first gun. When I held it, I was like, “Ooh wee! This is real!” said YG. “I threw a party in a church hall, but niggas who we had problems with came. They walked up close and I pulled the hammer out on them like, “Nigga, what’s happenin’?!” Up in the church! They backed back, like, OK, fa’sho.
On being a Blood,
You get jumped on by a certain amount of people for a certain amount of time. I gave my life up for this gangbang shit. The moment you get put on you gotta bang the hood and be involved in gang activities. I’m not trying to say I sold my soul, but I dedicated my life to the set. You could end up dead or in jail for the rest of your life, you feel me?
On his dad going to jail,
That’s when my life flipped. I was always doing little shit—on the low, because my pops was always on me, trippin’. I was bad as a motherfucker; he used to whoop me in front of the school. When he went to jail I didn’t have to hide the shit I was doing. I was wildin’ out.
