On October 27th, the Atlanta Hawks played their first game of the 2017-18 NBA season at home in Philips Arena after starting the season on a five game road trip. The Hawks opened the doors of newly renovated Philips Arena in what was a homecoming of sorts for former Atlanta Hawks all-star Paul Millsap.

The Highlight Factory was rocking during the entire night. Atlanta native Killer Mike’s rap duo Run The Jewels performed a both halftime and post game yet despite the electric atmosphere, the Hawks weren’t able to tip off their home stand with a victory. The Hawks fell to the Denver Nuggets last night (105-100) to move on to a record of (1-5) on the young season.

For the Hawks, in his first game back in action after missing the previous two games with an ankle injury, point guard Dennis Schroder finished the game with 20 points and 6 assist on (7-16) shooting from the floor. Second year wingman Taurean Prince continues to grow right in front of us. Prince finished the night with 19 points on (8-14) shooting including going (3-5) from behind the three point line. Off the bench, Marco Belinelli finished the night with 15 points going (5-7) from the three point line.

Following the Game, Terrell Thomas caught up with Coach Bud and a few of the Hawks players. Coach Bud spoke on seeing former Hawks all-star Paul Millsap in a new uniform and what his young Hawks can do to keep improving this season. Hawks swingman Taurean Prince spoke on his personal improvements so far this season and what he wants to focus on as the year continues.

For Hawks rookie John Collins, Friday’s game was he first at Philips Arena. John Collins spoke on Hawks fans and the warm welcome he has received in the city and what he expects to learn as the season moves along. Hawks veteran Kent Bazemore addressed the teams passion, speaking on their drive and how they fight hard to compete each night despite early season injuries.

The interview/recap was conducted by Terrell Thomas. The interview/recap was shot and edited by Danny Digital.
