The tattoo artist is asking Warner Bros. to show him the money for using the copy in the Hangover 2.
Expecting a big laugh from audiences, producers from the Hangover 2 decided it would be funny to have Ed Helms’ character sport a big Mike Tyson-esque tattoo on his face. What they didn’t expect was getting sued for the copywritten material “visual artist” S. Victor Whitmill created. Whitmill is the man behind Tyson’s destinctive facial tattoo and oddly enough he actually did copyright the design in 2003 after applying the tattoo to Tyson’s face. The heavyweight champ even signed a release aknowledging that Whitmill was the “sole creator, author, and owner of all rights, including copyright, in the Original Tattoo, which is original and fixed in a tangible medium of expression.” Whitmill is currently suing Warner Bros to stop them from using the design in their film, set to release next month, along with unspecified monetary damages.
