During his sit down at the Red Bull Music Academy 2011, Mannie Fresh recalls his short stint over at Def Jam. Due to some clearing issues with Cash Money, Mannie Fresh was unable to get clearance for a Lil Wayne record he wanted to release through the Def Jam imprint which led to the label not wanting to deal with him because of his on going issues with Cash Money.
