With the payroll of the Philadelphia Phillies and the talent in their clubhouse the Fightin Phil’s were predicted to be in the NL pennant race and were early favorites to win the world Series but injuries hurt the boys of summer early and seemed to turn that dream into a nightmare.
Oh how the tides turn!
After having a horrible start from Cliff Lee and trading Hunter Pence (S.F. Giants) and Shane Victorino (L.A. Dodgers) to a new time zone the Phillies are just three games back in the race for October. Riding the wave of a 7 game winning steak the Phillies head to Houston as they hope to catch the Braves (81-63) and Cardinals (75-68) for one of the two wild card seeds. The Phillies (72-71) record has them just three games back in the race and over .500 for the first time in months. Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, L.A, and Arizona are all also in the mix.
Tonight the Phillies look to inch closer to the postseason as they face the (45-98) Houston Astros.
