During an era when the rap industry has experienced what appears to be, a modern day reenactment of the California Gold Rush. Kidd Fresh remains determined to achieve his goals, while battling an over-saturated market. Hanif Sharif, also known as Kidd Fresh, focuses on balancing the integrity of his art form versus the demands of today’s business environment.
Born in Los Angeles, California on June 25th, 1990, Fresh soon moved with his family to Northwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a youth, he became intrigued by music as his older brother listened to Underground Hip-Hop. He would frequently recite lyrics to his classmates & quickly grew fond of the attention he received. “Soon enough it became my way of expression. I couldn’t stop.” Fresh recalls.
He began to build a strong reputation throughout the Philly and Norristown area during his teenage years performing at talent shows, festivals, and nightclubs. Fresh has opened for Akon, DMX, Freeway, and a many other major artist. His singles frequently receive spins on local stations, such as Power 99, which has also assisted with boosting his presence locally.
Although, not an avid sports fan, Fresh has a passion for being a competitor within the music industry. Some of his current favorite artists include, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Drake. He appreciates these artists for their ability to consistently raise the bar. Fresh states, “I want to make great records, instead of just rapping”.
At the young age of 21 years old, Fresh has close to a decade of experience. He no longer views music as a hobby, but a career. Fresh is ready to achieve both personal and professional goals. His upcoming project “The Kidd Fresh EP”, will be released May 1st, 2012, distributed through LOUD Muzik. With high expectations for the project, Fresh plans to continue dedicating himself to his artistry and advance his career to the next level by 2013.
