The first game at American Airlines Arena for the 2013-14 NBA season was a good one for the home team as the Miami Heat beat the Chicago Bulls 107-95 in large part to the play of Miami Heat guard/forward Shane Battier. Miami took control of the game in the second quarter scoring 37 points in the quarter and took a 21 point lead into the half.
Derrick Rose didn’t look like the DRose that we saw during the preseason shooting just (4-15) finishing with only 12 points. Carlos Boozer was the Bulls leading scorer dropping 31 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assist. The Miami Heat started the game strong and nearly lost the lead late in the fourth quarter but a few shots from Norris Cole and Lebron James was enough to hold off the Bulls. Lebron James finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assist shooting (5-11) while Shane Battier shot (5-6) coming off the bench and finished the game with 14.
The Miami Heat will head to Philadelphia to face the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 30th, while Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls will host Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks on Halloween.
