Richmond,VA producer NameBrand has been provided the soundtrack to many artists from his city and abroad for some years with his totally unique sound. Now, the musician decides to take things in another direction by releasing a 9-track showing of some of his most polished work with PrayDreams. NameBrand is in my opinion, a more classical producer than one would find in this day and age. The project has a mix of boom bap bass-lines that would remind you of a DJ Premier, and also delivers that old-school melodic feel like Quincy Jones. This isn’t just your run-of-the-mill beat tape, you can tell Brand took his time carefully sculpting the piece with the soundbites heard throughout the extended play from various pop culture icons.
