It’s a sad day for the Hip-Hop community as Chicago rapper King Louie has reportedly been shot in the head in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Southwest Side of the city this afternoon, as his management team confirmed. Louie is currently signed to Epic Records and has been Grammy-nominated for his work on Kanye West’s Yeezus. The street violence in Chicago is very real and hearing this news only further confirms the city is in dire need or change.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times
The rapper — whose real name is Louis Johnson — was shot while in a vehicle in the 3900 block of West 83rd Street about 3:30 p.m., according to his management and Chicago Police. Police said he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition had stabilized.
A representative from his management team said he was “awake and talking.”
Further details were not immediately available….
We’ll keep Louie in our thoughts as we hope he recovers quickly.
