Common and John Legend have been all on the television screen recently performing them joint single “Glory”. Originally featured as the theme song for the film “Selma” which is based on the civil rights events that took place in Selma, Alabama, “Glory” can now be mentioned as one of the best.

Last night, Common and John Legend took home the Golden Globe award for their song “Glory” wining the award for the Best Original Song. After being handed the award for music legend Prince, Common had this to say

“The first day I stepped on the set of Selma I began to feel like this was bigger than a movie. As I got to know the people of the Civil Rights Movement, I realised I am the hopeful black woman who was denied her right to vote. I am the caring white supporter killed on the front lines of freedom. I am the unarmed black kid who maybe needed a hand, but instead was given a bullet. I am the two fallen police officers murdered in the line of duty. Selma has awakened my humanity.”

Congrats to Common and John Legend on this huge accomplishment!
