It seems like at least once a year we uncover hidden 2Pac gems. This time, we uncovered a rare Pac interview via Kendrick Lamar’s early leak of To Pimp A Butterfly (shoutout to whoever the “genius” was at Interscope who leaked the album). The very last record on the album, Mortal Man, rides out to soliloquy given by K. Dot that leads into his “conversation” with 2Pac. The interview clip that is featured on the track was taken from a rare Swedish interview that Pac did in NYC November of ’94. This interview was held just 2 weeks before the infamous Quad Studios shooting that sparked the beef between him & Biggie which ignited the East Coast vs. the West Coast rivalry in Hip-Hop.
Anything concerning Kendrick Lamar is always of genuine depth. The conversation he held with 2Pac on his album was more-so him seeking knowledge & wisdom. He has 2Pac touch on how he keeps his faith strong, what he meant when referencing “the ground” in his poems & songs, how this generation would react in the event of a real tragedy, & how the rich continue to grow their wealth.
In the video above, you’ll hear the full interview that was spliced on the album. It plays in-between classic 2Pac records & the host speaking.
