This past weekend Jay Z attempted his first boxing in promotion. The successful televised event was a huge feather in the hat of Jay and Roc Nation Sports fledging boxing promotion. Normally, boxing promoters don’t just promote events. They normally have a stable of boxers.
Hours before the event, it was announced that Jay signed his first boxer. Oakland’s own Andre Ward signed on the dotted line with Roc Nation Sports, becoming the first boxer to sign on with the new money team.
Many wondered why Ward would sign with a new outfit like Roc Nation Sports. Aside from the football, baseball and basketball players, they haven’t had success in the squared circle.
