Tonight, Week 15 of the 2015 NFL season comes to a close as the (4-9) Detroit Lions face the (5-8) New Orleans Saints in a battle of preseason Super Bowl contenders that now will just be a matchup of two of the NFL’s top quarterbacks.
The Saints and Lions feature two high powered offenses which could put up huge points tonight. For Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, Brees has been putting up great numbers all year but a shaky defense hasn’t allowed Brees’ great year to result in wins. The Saints aren’t in the playoff picture this year but tonight’s game could be a reminder of how elite the Saints offense really is.
The Lions also had preseason plans of making it to the playoffs but those dreams are over. The Lions haven’t looked like the same team they were last season but in games like this, pride is on the line and the Lions could come out on fire. Lions quarterback Matt Stafford has weapons all over the field and a weak Saint defense could be just what the doctor ordered for the Lions and their offense.
Tonight I expect this to be a old fashioned shootout. Look for Drew Brees to toss for over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns tonight while for the Lions Stafford will toss for 4 touchdowns and over 350. Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson need only 19 yards for his another 1000 yard receiving season under his belt and I believe he gets that early. I like the visiting team in this one!
