Apollo Ali formerly known as Apollo The Great sits down with HHS1987 in Camden, New Jersey to talk about his new project. The project, ‘Contradiction’ will be available on iTunes today. Apollo describes the meaning of that title, and explains why he has various types of music so some may say its a ‘Contradiction.’ He states that his album title is also an acronym, Chosen Over Niggas That Rap Average Doing It Correct To Improve Our Nation. As far as features you can expect Jadakiss, Guordan, August Alsina, Dave East, Sean Price and many others.
Apollo talks about his grandfather Jersey Joe Walcott inspiring his album cover. Apollo Ali talks about the impact he has on the world that people don’t know. Jersey Joe Walcott was a Camden native, and a professional boxer as well. Apollo noted that Muhammad Ali and boxers of today were all inspired by his footwork which ultimately changed the game of boxing for real.
Before we concluded the interview, we had a conversation with Apollo about the New Jersey music scene. He mentioned that they don’t often get a look, but now Fetty Wap is all over the radio, Tsu Surf being on top of the battle rap circuit and more.
Apollo talks about the success he has had thus far. He has had many videos premiered on MTV, being on all the top hip hop blogs/ websites, and some of the top radio stations like Hot 97. He mentioned that he doesn’t get caught up in any of that.
