BJ The Chicago Kid, who has made quite the name for himself over the last couple of years, recently sat down with HipHopWired to highlight a few of his current achievements & hip us to his new moves.
Performing alongside Joey Bada$$ on The Jimmy Fallon Show for the first time had to have been one of the most amazing moments in his career thus far, especially being that they performed their collaborative J Dilla/The Roots produced cut Like Me. Singing with such a legendary band backing him up was a dope experience for the soulful crooner who grew up being influenced by these artists.
He also touched on his most recent project The M.A.F.E. Project & spoke about the young soulful r&b vibe he intended for the collection to portray.
Growing up in the church & singing in the choir was the foundation that BJ’s musical roots are based upon. He’s currently working with Jill Scott which is an incredible for him because she inspires him way beyond the music.
She’s like a big sister.. She’s like a big inspiration to my life beyond music. She speaks values into my life and I love her forever and a day.
We can expect a lot to unfold for the Chi-Town singer in the coming months. He’s working on his album, so maybe we’ll even be lucky enough to catch miss. Jill Scott display her flawless vocals on his debut.
