The 2016 NBA Summer League was very exciting with 2016-17 NBA rookies Ben Simmons, Brandon Ingram and others showcasing their talents in Orlando and Las Vegas but the thrills came to an end in thrilling fashion last night.
2016 NBA Summer League MVP Tyus Jones and the Minnesota Timberwolves faced NBA rookie Denzel Valentine and the Chicago Bulls for last night in the Summer League Championship game and it was on for the ages. After entering the fourth quarter shooting (0-6) from the field, with the number 45 on his chest, Bulls rookie Denzel Valentine made two of the biggest shots of the Summer to help his team win the 2016 NBA Summer League championship.

According to ESPN,
Valentine was scoreless on 0-for-6 shooting through three quarters, but he proved that fortunes change quickly in Las Vegas. His 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds left forced the extra period after Tyus Jones had just given Minnesota a 77-74 lead on a 3 with 3.6 seconds to go.
It was tied again on Xavier Silas’ 3 with 11.7 seconds remaining in OT, but Valentine, the college player of the year from Michigan State, worked the clock down before making his spinning jumper in the lane as the Bulls finished 7-0.
Congrats to the Chicago Bulls on winning the 2016 NBA Summer League championship. Keep Denzel Valentine’s name in mind, I think he could end up in the 2016-17 rookie of the year runnings.
